Zechariah 8:18–19
Sadness to Gladness

Since the destruction of Solomon's temple in 587 BC, the people of Israel have observed four different fast days, each of which commemorates a specific associated event with this great tragedy. One of these days, Tisha B'Av (the ninth day of the Jewish month Av), is not only the day Solomon's temple was destroyed, but also the day the second temple was destroyed in 70 AD. Several other Jewish tragedies also happened on this same day. Yet the prophet Zechariah foretold a time when these days of sadness will be turned to joyful celebrations. As the Jewish world commemorates Tisha B'Av this year, Pastor Alan explains how it is necessary to properly grieve in order to fully experience God's miraculous joy.
